Diesel Mechanic Technician

Overview

Diesel Mechanic Technician role at Ryder System, Inc. in Portland, Oregon. Immediate permanent full-time opportunity to support a Truck Fleet as a Mobile Maintenance Diesel Technician.

• Interact with customers and demonstrate account management skills to independently facilitate preventative maintenance, repair issue resolution, and discuss repair estimates with customers. Coordinate work schedules as required by customers. Road test vehicles to identify causes of complaints, ensure quality of repair work, and deliver customer satisfaction. Conduct preventive maintenance and vehicle repairs as part of daily duties.
• Operate and inspect vehicle systems including A/C and Heater, Brakes (Air and Hydraulic), and other listed subsystems; perform tests, identify leaks, measure and adjust components, and complete required repairs per training and policy manuals.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks, diagnose mechanical issues, and document work in the company systems in accordance with safety, DOT, and corporate guidelines.
• Maintain all service, safety, and environmental records to meet corporate, federal, state, and local requirements.
• Act as a mentor for Mobile Technician II level and perform other duties as assigned.

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Vocational or Technical Certification in related field preferred
• Two (2) years or more experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment
• Must have minimum tools required to perform job duties per Ryder's Maintenance policy 2.02
• Pass Ryder drug test and prior employer drug tests in the last 3 years; DOT physical;
  Ryder road test; pass Ryder background and motor vehicle checks incl. drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for last 3 years
• Ability to drive Ryder vehicles and adhere to Company policies
• Strong customer service, communication, and relationship-management skills
• Ability to complete repair orders using Company systems
• Ability to multitask, stay organized, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Other listed qualifications related to OEM online diagnostic tools, tires and wheels safety, brakes, A/C recovery, and applicable certifications with appropriate time frames
