The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Backend Software Engineer with a strong Java background to join the Trading Platform team. The role involves upgrading and re-developing critical trading components to enable tighter integration with Addepar core, greater flexibility, and scalable engagement with third parties. You will work on handling large data volumes and building distributed systems for automated data ingestion and transformation.

What You’ll Do
  • Architect, implement, and maintain engineering solutions to solve complex problems; write well-designed, testable code
  • Lead project priorities, deadlines, and solutions
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and partners on projects
  • Support business needs during US hours; act as engineering representative to clients and product support; steer communications from engineering perspectives
  • Communicate technical ideas and set direction on projects with a focus on solving business challenges
  • Mentor other engineers on the team
  • Participate in the design and development of a strategic product for Addepar
  • Write clean, efficient, maintainable, scalable, and extensible code
Who You Are
  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or similar field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience
  • Expert-level backend development with a focus on Java
  • Experience with AWS or another cloud platform
  • Experience with databases, SQL, No

    SQL, OLAP, and/or data lake architectures
  • Strong ownership mentality and drive to solve important problems
  • Passion for implementing standard processes with a bias toward smart automation
  • Ability to collaborate with and mentor other engineers
  • Experience in data processing and analysis using SQL, PySpark, or similar frameworks is a plus
  • Rapid learner with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
