Role The Multnomah Athletic Club is seeking aCompetitive Gymnastics Development Coachto join a staff of passionate professionals who are leaders in the sport and provide a positive and inclusive environment for all athletes.This person will assist the Head Gymnastics Coach with the supervision and instruction of gymnastics at all competitive levels.
Gymnastics is one of Multnomah Athletic Club’s longest-standing sports that has a solid foundation in the community and allows young athletes to experience a social culture mixed with an athletic mentality. Club gymnasts train within the USA Gymnastics Men’s and Women’s Developmental Program, which includes boy’s Club Track and girl’s Xcel. What You'll Do
- Coach and supervise all competitive gymnastics levels under the Head Coach’s direction.
- Follow and help evaluate weekly training plans; attend regular planning meetings.
- Travel to competitions and assist with team coaching as assigned.
- Support team operations including training, tryouts, scheduling, and parent communication.
- Maintain accurate athlete progression records and report safety concerns promptly.
- Assist with daily and long-term program operations and identify ongoing program needs.
- Help organize events and competitions, support teacher training during clinics.
- Promote a positive, professional environment for gymnasts, staff, and members.
- Communicate member concerns and uphold high standards of conduct.
- Lead meetings, conferences, and lessons with professionalism and warmth.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Gymnastics Manager.
- Minimum three years of competitive gymnastics coaching or equivalent experience.
- In-depth knowledge of current competitive gymnastics rules and policies.
- USA Gymnastics Safety, Safe Sport, andconcussion training (within 60 days of hire) required.
- Active USA Gymnastics coaching membership in good standing.
- Strong leadership, planning, and team-building skills.
- Effective communicator with staff, athletes, and families.
- Committed to fostering a positive and professional gymnastics environment.
- Physically able to perform job duties, including lifting up to 75 lbs and using equipment safely.
- Excellent customer service and decision-making abilities.
- Proficient with office and gymnasticsequipment.
- Able to work collaboratively and make sound decisions within established guidelines.
