Job Title: Head Baseball Coach

Supervisor: DDHS Athletic Director

Subordinates: Baseball Varsity Assistant/JV Coach

The Varsity Baseball Head Coach reports directly to the Athletic Director and has the primary responsibility for administering all levels of the DDHS baseball program. The successful candidate will be committed to the mission and goals of David Douglas High School and follow all OSAA procedures.

• Supportive of the mission and goals of the David Douglas Athletic Department
• Baseball coaching/competing experience with a solid knowledge of the fundamentals and strategies of high-school baseball
• A proven, verifiable record of having been part of a competitive baseball program
• A proven, verifiable record of placing appropriate emphasis on academic excellence, good sportsmanship, and character development
• Must be able and willing to work on and maintain baseball field and facility
• A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, assistant coaches, and other stakeholders
• A demonstrated ability to create and implement effective practices, drills
• A demonstrated ability to manage effective game strategy
• Must complete all OSAA and DDSD coaching requirements
• Follow all procedures of OSAA and Mount Hood Conference
• CPR and First Aid certified or able to obtain upon request

• Has full responsibility for the overall supervision and development of the DDHS baseball program, including assistant coaches and the junior-varsity and C-level teams
• In coordination with the Athletic Director, plans and implements the scheduling of team activities, tryouts, practices, game plans, and summer programs
• Create and implement workouts/drills and run effective practices
• Create an offseason/summer program that fosters player/team development
• Responsible for the safety and security of the team before, during, and after events and while traveling to and from events
