This position provides Citywide facility support with primary responsibility for the new Fifth and Elm venue in the Leisure and Entertainment District. Under the direction of the Facilities Superintendent, the Facilities Services Technician performs skilled maintenance, repair, and preventive services for City buildings and critical infrastructure systems. Core areas of focus include HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire and life‑safety systems, building automation, and splash pad operations.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical skills, independent problem solving, and attention to detail to ensure all City facilities remain safe, reliable, and welcoming to staff and the public.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Replace HVAC filters, belts, and other routine service components.
  • Perform minor carpentry, painting, plumbing, and fixture repairs.
  • Conduct daily building inspections, equipment readings, and facility rounds.
  • Identify, document, and report facility deficiencies or potential hazards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of mechanical, electrical, and storage areas.
  • Perform chemical testing and routine maintenance for splash pad water features.
  • Inspect, service, and test fire alarms, suppression systems, and emergency lighting to ensure compliance with local and national life safety codes.
  • Record all work performed, materials used, and system conditions in the CMMS in accordance with City policy.
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors and vendors working in City facilities to ensure safety, quality, and compliance with City standards.
  • Verify contractor work completion and accuracy of time, labor, scope, and material reporting.
  • Provide site access and remain on site during critical work that impacts life safety, building systems, or public operations.
  • Ensure all vendors follow City safety requirements including confined space protocols, lockout and tagout procedures, and hot work permit requirements.
  • Communicate deviations, deficiencies, or concerns to the Facilities Superintendent.
  • Perform and document periodic testing of fire alarms, suppression systems, and egress components.
  • Maintain emergency lighting, exit signage, and fire extinguishers in accordance with NFPA standards and City policy.
  • Support risk management initiatives and annual safety audits by ensuring accessibility and functionality of all safety equipment.
  • Respond to facility emergencies including alarms, power loss, mechanical failures, and other critical events while following established protocols.
Salary

$24.82 - $36.00, depending on qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years or more of related facility maintenance experience.
  • EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigerant Certification is required.
  • Pool Operator Certification (CPO or AFO) must be obtained within twelve months of hire.
