Wealth Management and Client Relationship Associate – Independent Wealth Management Firm
Location:
Portsmouth, NH
Work Environment:
On-site, Full-time
Role Summary
We're hiring a Wealth Management and Client Relationship Associate on behalf of our client—a growing, independent wealth management firm based in Portsmouth, NH. For more than 50 years, this firm has delivered highly personalized investment and financial planning services to high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families, and today oversees more than $700 million in client assets.
This is a high-touch, relationship-driven role for someone who wants to build a long-term career as a trusted advisor. Reporting to the firm's Managing Partners, the Associate will work directly with senior advisors to deliver a seamless, consultative client experience—managing a focused book of no more than 50 client relationships rather than a high-volume caseload. The ideal candidate is a relationship-first professional (more "farmer" than "hunter") who is energized by deepening client trust over time, with a genuine interest in growing into a senior advisory—and eventually partnership-track—role.
CoreResponsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for a curated group of client relationships, ensuring a seamless and highly personalized experience
- Partner with senior advisors on account openings, portfolio administration, and ongoing client servicing
- Build, maintain, and present client financial plans in collaboration with senior team members
- Participate in quarterly investment meetings with external contributors, contributing perspective on portfolio decisions such as small-cap and private equity allocations
- Support trading and portfolio management activity alongside senior advisors
- Collaborate with outside tax and estate planning professionals on behalf of shared clients
- Prepare and ensure accuracy of presentation materials and meeting preparation for client and prospect meetings
- Participate in client and prospect meetings alongside firm partners in a consultative, team-based format
- Utilize and build fluency in the firm's technology platforms, including Orion, to support portfolio management
- Identify opportunities to continuously improve the firm's client service processes
- Contribute to special projects as the role evolves
- 5–10 years of experience within a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) or wealth management environment
- CFP® designation preferred, or actively working toward completion
- A relationship-oriented professional who is more energized by deepening existing client trust than by new business development, though comfortable engaging in both
- Strong investment acumen and interest in contributing to portfolio and asset allocation discussions
- A high level of integrity, discretion, and ability to maintain confidential client and firm information
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a consultative, team-oriented approach
- Comfortable working closely with firm partners and senior leadership in a collaborative, non-siloed environment
- Genuine interest in a long-term career path toward senior advisor and, over time, partnership
- Bachelor's degree required
- Total compensation target of $250,000–$300,000, commensurate with experience
- Equity partnership potential over time, for the right candidate after an established tenure with the firm
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) plan
- Support for continuing education and professional licensing/designations (e.g., CFP®)
- Collegial, collaborative, business-casual work environment
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Portsmouth, NH. Our client's team values integrity, commitment, and a consultative, client-first approach—client meetings are typically attended by multiple senior team members, reflecting a highly collaborative culture rather than a siloed, individual-book model. This is a boutique, tenured team: several team members have been with the firm for six-plus and even twenty-plus years, reflecting a stable, long-term-minded culture.
The firm is selectively growing its next generation of advisory talent and is looking for someone who wants to build a career here for years to come.
