We’re looking for a dedicated RN Student Nurse Extern to join our Cardiac Medical Unit on a PRN basis. This position is part of HCA Healthcare, a leading provider of health‑care services.

As a Nurse Extern, you will work closely with the nursing team, gaining hands‑on experience while providing safe, compassionate care. You’ll help deliver patient‑centered services and build the skills necessary to progress through your nursing program.

• Collaborate with the clinical team to create and implement care plans, performing direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision.
• Obtain and record initial and ongoing patient information throughout the cycle of care.
• Assist with patient mobility by regularly turning, positioning, and ambulating patients, and transferring them to other units or departments.
• Translate complex medical terminology to help patients, families, and caregivers understand the patient’s condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow‑up measures.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes needed at discharge to support self‑management.

• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited nursing school; capable of performing higher‑level procedures once competency is achieved.
• Ability to create and implement a personal career‑development plan, to be reviewed regularly by a supervisor or preceptor.
• Completion of Nursing Fundamentals.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) licensure.
