Mechanical Apprentice - Pipefitter

Position Summary

The Mechanical Apprentice will assist licensed tradesman with the installation or maintenance and inspection of mechanical systems and associated processes.

• Regular attendance at assigned location that may include office or other project sites
• Work with materials that include cast iron, PVC, polypropylene, copper (solder and pro‑press), stainless steel, carbon steel
• Measure, cut, thread or bend pipe to required angle using hand or power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe‑threading machines, or pipe‑bending machines
• Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes or fixtures in structures
• Assemble pipe sections, tubing or fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts or soldering equipment
• Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances, or fixtures using hand or power tools
• Test pipes or fixtures for leaks using various methods

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Follow plans and instructions from supervisors or more experienced workers
• Strict adherence to all safety rules and quality standards
• Interact with all co‑workers and clients in an attentive courteous manner
• At times may perform clerical/administrative duties
• Participate in site housekeeping
• Perform additional duties as directed by SOPs and employee handbook

• High School Diploma or relevant work experience
• Enrolled in Trade school and/or apprenticeship program
• OSHA 10 certification
• Understanding and development of daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
