GENERAL SUMMARY

Works under the supervision of the Manager of Construction and Renovation. The Facilities Technician's primary job function is to make minor building modifications and/or improvements (i.e. add a door, move a wall, paint, etc). This may include repairing and/or maintaining hospital building using hand and power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments while following all safety precautions. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required
  • Certificate of completion of vocational training in carpentry or related field preferred

Licensure:

  • BMVL required (Must maintain eligibility to drive as determined by SOMC's insurance carriers)
  • BLS Certification within the first year of employment required
  • NFPA 70E (Low Voltage) Certification within 6 months of hire required

Experience:

  • Work related experience required
  • One year progressively more responsible related work experience necessary in order to gain knowledge of general construction trades and carpentry skills preferred.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

  • Performs carpentry installations (cabinets/shelving/furniture repair).
  • Performs architectural installation/repair (flooring/painting/dry-walling/wall covering).
  • Follows all OSHA guidelines.
  • Communicates to all departments impacted by their work projects.
  • Performs and/or assists in constructing of temporary barriers to control dust/infection control measures.
  • Keeps all surplus material storage areas clean and organized.
  • Utilizes work order system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
