What You Will Do- Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub‑assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements.
- Develop mechanical designs from initial concept to formal technical data package generation, culminating in initial builds, testing, transition to production, and production support.
- Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals.
- Participate in design peer reviews, resolve action items, and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions.
- Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
- Occasional CONUS travel to customer sites or suppliers; international travel may be available but optional.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in mechanical engineering design.
- Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5), tolerance analysis, metal fabrication (machining, sheet metal), and assembly joining techniques (fasteners, rivets, inserts).
- Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. government‑issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
- Experience in specification, design, development, production, and testing of electronic systems, with knowledge of packaging electronic equipment to meet physical and environmental constraints.
- Experience with military and commercial specifications.
- Experience with PTC CREO and PDM.
- Experience managing financial and schedule performance of program‑level tasking.
- Earned Value Project Management certifications.
- Expertise in product assembly, fabrication methods, manufacturing processes, and technologies (machined components & products).
- Demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems while working as part of a team.
- Experience leading small development efforts and teams with cost and schedule responsibility.
- Experience in material selection for structural, thermal, mechanical, electrical, producibility, and environmental considerations, including corrosion mitigation.
- Strong communication skills, able to articulate concepts to technical, non‑technical, and management audiences.
- Experience with configuration management systems and practices.
- Experience with CAD modeling and engineering documentation practices.
