Summary

Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director, the Staff Psychologist independently provides school-based psychological assessment, treatment, and consultation for students attending the Bradley Schools. Staff Psychologists also may provide supervision of undergraduate, graduate, and/or postdoctoral psychology trainees (e.g., practicum students and clinical psychology residents and postdoctoral fellows).

Candidates may be eligible for a faculty appointment through Alpert Medical School. For those with faculty appointments, some teaching and supervision of trainees will be required.

Responsibilities
  • Apply the corporation’s values of respect, honesty, and fairness while improving the regional health status through customer-friendly, geographically-accessible services.
  • Participate actively in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of Bradley School students by staying current with medical, developmental, family histories, clinical diagnoses, and treatment protocols.
  • Serve as treatment team leaders for Bradley School classrooms, reviewing student records before admission, coordinating assessment and treatment plans, facilitating team relationships, and leading weekly team meetings and formal meetings with parents and community partners.
  • Deliver psychological services for students admitted to the school program or referred for outpatient consultation, including diagnostic assessment, supervision of classroom-based assessment data, case management, individual, family or group therapy, behavior management consultation, outpatient consultation, and timely completion of required reports and records.
  • Provide supervision of undergraduate, graduate, and/or postdoctoral psychology/psychiatry trainees (practicum students, clinical psychology residents, postdoctoral fellows, child psychiatry fellows), ensuring high-quality supervision, teaching, and research oversight as needed.
  • Adhere to all school policies, procedures, and practices by attending in-service programs, maintaining crisis de‑escalation and intervention certification, complying with infection control and safety standards, and participating in training seminars, committees, and other related duties.
  • Provide effective leadership and support to assigned teams, model flexibility, present equipment and staffing needs to management, resolve student/staff issues, maintain relationships with all systems involved in a student’s care, and provide community leadership in severe psychiatric and behavioral disorders.
Basic Knowledge

Requires a Ph.D. or Psy.

D. in Clinical Psychology, state licensure or eligibility for licensure; a postdoctoral fellowship in a relevant area is preferred. Consideration may be given to licensed psychologists with doctorates in Counseling or School Psychology who demonstrate specific skills in providing clinical/administrative services within the Bradley School or similar settings.

Requires demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to school‑aged youth, with consideration of developmental processes, cultural, familial, and individual factors influencing educational, emotional, and behavioral functioning and progress.

Experience

One to two years of supervised postdoctoral experience within the field of Clinical Child and Adolescent psychology preferred.

Work Environment and

Physical Requirements

Work occurs in a school classroom and/or office environment. Employees work in a special education setting under stressful conditions associated with care of students with severe emotional, behavioral, and/or developmental challenges, which may include aggressive and/or self‑injurious behaviors.

Independent Action

Performs independently within BS policies and practices; refers specific complex problems to supervisor when clarification of policies and procedures may be required.
