Senior Accountant

Location: Guildhall Walk, PO1 2AL

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 6+ Months

Working Hours: Mon - Fri, 09:00 - 17:00

Pay Rate: £21.53 per hour

• Prepare, review, and maintain accurate financial statements and reports.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting processes.
• Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Ensure compliance with statutory accounting standards and internal policies.
• Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Support internal and external audits by providing accurate financial information.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
• Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders regarding financial matters.

• Qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent.
• Strong experience in financial accounting, reporting, and reconciliation.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Strong understanding of statutory regulations and compliance requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

• Experience working in the public sector or local government.
• Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting tools.
• Previous experience in audit preparation and financial analysis.
