Job overview

Recruiting an MDT Coordinator and Pathway Tracker to support the proactive tracking of patients with suspected or confirmed cancer diagnoses through all appropriate pathways from point of entry into the Trust. The role involves ensuring timely booking and progression of patient journeys in line with national Cancer Waiting Time standards, supporting clinical decision‑making and maintaining accurate records.

Main duties of the job

• Manage the Patient Tracking List (PTL) and coordinate administrative processes. • Escalate delays and support MDT meetings, ensuring all required clinical information is available for safe decision‑making. • Liaise with internal and external clinical teams to obtain investigations, imaging and test results. • Attend and maintain accurate attendance records for weekly MDT meetings in accordance with national Peer Review requirements.

Key responsibilities
  • Ensure patient journeys adhere to national Cancer Waiting Time standards (28‑Day Faster Diagnosis, 31‑Day and 62‑Day targets).
  • Support the smooth running of MDT meetings and live data entry during discussions.
  • Coordinate notes, investigations, imaging and test results, liaising externally when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate data and documentation, ensuring confidentiality and data protection compliance.
  • Plan, book and progress appointments to meet service targets.
Qualifications
  • Good general education to GCSE level or equivalent, including English and Maths.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Evidence of ongoing personal development.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent qualification.
Knowledge
  • Strong administrative processes knowledge and organisational skills.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
  • Basic knowledge of cancer pathways and national Cancer Waiting Time standards.
  • Medical terminology and patient pathway in an acute trust setting.
Experience
  • Administrative or clerical role in a busy office environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience handling confidential or sensitive information.
  • Communication with staff at different organisational levels.
  • Experience with in NHS or healthcare setting.
  • Patient pathway tracking or clinical team support.
  • Minute‑taking or live data entry during meetings.
