About Us

PETA was founded in 1970 by Alex Zemenides, who recognised a lack of training and development opportunities for local employees. To address this need, he joined forces with five other local businesses to establish the Portsmouth Engineering Training Association (PETA). Created as a registered charity and still operating as one today, PETA is governed by a Board of Directors and Trustees elected from its membership base.

While its roots are in engineering, PETA has grown significantly and now delivers more than 200 courses and apprenticeship programmes across a wide range of professional, digital, and technical disciplines. Today, PETA is one of the largest and most respected training providers on the South Coast, continuing to transform careers and develop the next generation of business leaders and technical experts.
