Location: Hilsea
We are working in partnership with a well-established and highly respected refurbishment and construction specialist delivering projects across multiple sectors throughout the South.
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured and upcoming work, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join their Portsmouth-based team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is confident managing multiple live tenders simultaneously.
The Role
The successful candidate will take full ownership of projects from initial enquiry through to final tender submission and structured handover to the delivery team.
Projects are predominantly refurbishment-based, often across varied sectors, requiring strong organisational skills and the ability to assess, price and manage several tenders at different stages.
Key Responsibilities:
* Reviewing tender documentation and assessing full project scope
* Ensuring all required information is available to produce accurate pricing
* Attending site visits and pre-tender meetings with clients
* Producing detailed take-offs and Bills of Quantities (BQs)
* Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive quotations
* Analysing subcontractor returns for compliance, risk and best value
* Identifying commercial and programme risks within tenders
* Preparing clear clarifications and exclusions
* Producing comprehensive cost plans for management sign-off
* Managing and tracking multiple live refurbishment tenders
* Collaborating closely with internal teams, design consultants, suppliers and clients
* Supporting a seamless handover of secured projects to the operations team
About You
We are seeking a detail-driven and commercially aware Estimator with proven refurbishment experience who can confidently manage workload priorities and maintain accuracy under pressure.
Essential
Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience estimating within a refurbishment environment
* Strong ability to interpret drawings, specifications and schedules
* Solid understanding of measurement and take-off processes
* Experience managing multiple tenders simultaneously
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Proficiency in estimating software and Excel
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Project
