Site Manager; Cover

Position: Site Manager (Holiday Cover)
We are looking for an experienced Site Manager to provide holiday cover on an ongoing refurbishment project in Portsmouth.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the site during the existing Site Manager's absence, ensuring continuity of works and that the project continues to run safely, efficiently and in line with the agreed programme.

The project includes a significant roofing element, so previous roofing experience would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

* Take responsibility for the site during the permanent Site Manager's holiday absence.

* Manage and coordinate all day-to-day site activities.

* Ensure a smooth handover at the beginning and end of the holiday-cover period.

* Oversee subcontractors and trades, ensuring works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and programme requirements.

* Coordinate roofing works and associated refurbishment activities.

* Maintain high standards of health and safety across the site.

* Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks and regular site inspections as required.

* Review and ensure compliance with RAMS.

* Monitor progress against the programme and address any issues or delays.

* Maintain site records, diaries and relevant documentation.

* Liaise with the project team, subcontractors, suppliers and client representatives.

* Ensure workmanship meets the required quality standards.

* Report any significant site issues promptly to the Project/Contracts Manager.

Candidate Requirements

* Proven experience working as a Site Manager on refurbishment projects.

* Roofing experience preferred, particularly managing roofing subcontractors and works.

* Strong knowledge of construction health and safety requirements.

* Confident managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades.

* Able to take over an existing project and quickly understand current site activities and priorities.

* Good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

* Reliable and comfortable working independently while providing temporary cover.

* Valid SMSTS.

* Valid CSCS Card.

* First Aid at Work qualification preferred/required as applicable
