The Portsmouth NH School Department is seeking a special education building coordinator excited to join our professional learning community. Pay rate:
Per negotiated teacher's contract + Coordinator Stipend + 10 extra days
Maintain compliance with State and Federal special education statutes in all paperwork and processes.
Be resourceful, creative and forward-thinking in leading the department to develop and implement new learning opportunities that improve student achievement and well-being for students with disabilities.
Communicate, collaborate and problem solve effectively with students, families and staff.
Facilitate opportunities for professional development to faculty and administration on such topics as applicable laws and regulations and procedures, effective teaching and learning strategies for special education students, student engagement and other pertinent topics.
Qualifications MinimumRequired Qualifications
Master's Degree in Special Education.
NH certification or eligibility for certification in Special Education.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in special education programs.
Must meet Highly Qualified Teacher requirements.
Working knowledge of special education laws and procedures.
Experience with conducting and interpreting evaluations.
Ability to collaborate and effectively problem solve with students, families and staff.
Knowledge of differentiating instruction and meeting the needs of diverse learners.
Facilitate opportunities for professional development to faculty and administration regarding applicable laws, regulations and procedures, effective teaching and learning strategies for special education students, student engagement and other pertinent topics.
