Support Young Learners to Build Confidence and Thrive
We're looking for a Primary Tutor to provide personalised 1:1 support to children across Portsmouth, Southampton, and the surrounding Hampshire areas.
Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll support primary-aged learners who require alternative educational provision or additional support outside of a mainstream classroom environment. Some pupils may be working below age-related expectations, while others may need help re-engaging with education following periods of absence or other barriers to learning.
This is an excellent opportunity for education professionals who enjoy creating engaging learning experiences and helping young children develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour
Type: 1:1 Tuition
Requirements
Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, learning support, mentoring, or similar roles
Experience supporting primary-aged children
Good understanding of the primary curriculum
Ability to adapt lessons and activities to meet individual learning needs
Experience supporting children with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Patient, positive, and engaging approach
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally across Portsmouth, Southampton, and surrounding areas
Who You'll Support
You'll work with children across Key Stages 1 and 2 who may have:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
ADHD
Anxiety and school avoidance
Speech, language, and communication needs
EHCPs and additional learning needs
Every child is different, so tutors should be comfortable adapting their approach to suit individual strengths, interests, and goals.
