Pastoral Manager

Location: Portsmouth

Start Date: Immediate Start Available

Contract Type: Full-Time | Permanent

Pay Rate: £25,143 – £28,546 per annum

Supply Desk is recruiting for an experienced and compassionate Pastoral Manager to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Portsmouth.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people and making a genuine difference to their wellbeing, personal development and experience in school. You will play a key role in providing pastoral support, building positive relationships and helping students overcome barriers to learning.

The successful candidate will be approachable, organised and confident when working with students, staff and families, while contributing to a positive and supportive school environment.

  • Provide high-quality pastoral care and support to students
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with young people
  • Support students with wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and personal development
  • Identify concerns and provide appropriate pastoral interventions
  • Work closely with teaching staff, families and external professionals
  • Maintain accurate pastoral and safeguarding records
  • Support students who may be experiencing barriers to learning
  • Promote positive behaviour, inclusion and student engagement
  • Contribute to safeguarding and student welfare procedures
  • Previous experience in a pastoral, welfare, education, safeguarding or youth-focused role
  • A genuine passion for supporting and developing young people
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A calm, approachable and professional manner
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and student wellbeing
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
  • Enhanced DBS clearance and the right to work in the UK
