The Role

As the Lead Composite Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for driving excellence in composite structural design across a diverse range of marine projects. You’ll guide a dedicated engineering team, oversee the full lifecycle of composite structures, and ensure robust, compliant, high‑quality engineering outputs that support both innovation and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities
Set and maintain best‑practice methodologies, tools, and standards for composite structural engineering.
Lead detailed structural calculations and analysis for various types of composite structures.
Ensure all structural designs meet ISO and relevant classification standards.
Apply FEA and optimisation techniques to improve performance, weight, fatigue life, and ease of manufacture.
Support project development from concept and scantling definition through to detailed design, testing, and production release.
Produce accurate engineering drawings for submission and fabrication.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support approvals and ensure project alignment.
Provide technical support during manufacturing, responding to structural queries and ensuring build quality.
Oversee composite build activities to ensure adherence to specifications.
Lead, mentor, and develop the composite engineering team, offering technical guidance and performance support.
About You

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
At least 10 years’ experience within the marine industry specialising in composite structures.
Strong proficiency in carbon and glass fibre laminate calculations and design.
Experienced with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD (advantageous).
Skilled in FEA and laminate analysis tools.
Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartership.
Strong understanding of ISO and classification society standards relevant to composite marine structures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High levels of precision, problem‑solving capability, and attention to detail.
Able to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
