Senior Civil Engineer – Portsmouth
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 (DOE) + Benefits. Full‑time, permanent, hybrid working.
You’ll join a growing civil engineering consultancy delivering development‑led infrastructure projects across residential, commercial, and mixed‑use schemes. The team is expanding due to sustained project wins, creating a genuine opportunity for someone who wants ownership, progression, and a varied workload.
YOUR NEW ROLE- Lead the design of drainage, highways, external works, and development infrastructure.
- Oversee projects from early feasibility through planning and technical approval.
- Coordinate with internal disciplines, external consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Review and sign off technical designs, drawings, and reports.
- Mentor junior engineers and support capability development within the team.
- Prepare fee proposals and contribute to client relationship management.
- Attend meetings and occasional site visits as required.
- Degree or HND in Civil Engineering.
- IEng or working towards (desirable).
- 5+ years experience in a consultancy environment.
- Strong background in development infrastructure design.
- Proficient with AutoCAD and 3D design software (Site3D, Civil 3D or similar).
- Solid understanding of SuDS, Building Regulations, MfS, DMRB and relevant standards.
- Confident technical judgement and problem‑solving ability.
- Clear communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage deadlines, budgets and multiple live projects.
- Calm, organised and commercially aware approach.
- Commitment to CPD and continuous improvement.
- £50,000 – £60,000 (DOE).
- Performance‑related bonus.
