Coeus Technical is entering an exciting phase of growth and is looking for an ambitious Fire Engineer (£55,000–£75,000 DOE) to join at a pivotal early stage to support a growing technical team delivering proportionate, practicable, and buildable fire engineering solutions.

Role Description

This is a full-time Fire Engineer position, primarily remote
, with the need for a flexible approach to undertake site visits and client meetings as part of a hybrid working arrangement
.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Specify proportionate fire safety measures across a range of building types and project stages
  • Provide advice and guidance on the application of fire safety legislation and Building Regulations in support of projects
  • Develop clear, practical Fire Safety Strategies and supporting technical reports for new and existing buildings
  • Undertake fire engineering assessments and contribute to performance-based design where appropriate
  • Support risk-based decision-making and provide expert advice on fire safety compliance
  • Assist clients in navigating regulatory gateways and approval processes
    , ensuring documentation is accurate, proportionate and robust
  • Support multi-disciplinary design teams by providing practical, coordinated and technically robust fire safety advice throughout concept, design development, detailed design and construction
  • Undertake site visits, surveys and inspections to assess fire safety risks, existing conditions and compliance requirements
  • Maintain strong client relationships through clear communication, pragmatic advice and a solutions-focused mindset

You will play a key part in supporting the delivery of high-quality fire engineering services across a diverse portfolio, while contributing to the continued growth and development of Coeus' technical capability.

Essential

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working as a Fire Engineer.
  • Strong understanding of UK fire safety legislation, guidance and regulatory frameworks, including the Building Regulations, Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Order.
  • Working knowledge of Fire Risk Assessments (FRA / FRAEW) and routes to compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to self-manage workload and proactively resolve challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain fire safety principles.
  • Confidence in defending a fire safety position and explaining the rationale behind decisions to clients, approval authorities and project stakeholders.
  • A collaborative mindset aligned with Coeus values of Honesty, Transparency, Innovation and Respect.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Engineering, Fire & Risk Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Ability to discuss when and why performance-based design may be appropriate.
