Financial Accountant

Position: Financial Accountant (Permanent)
CMA Recruitment Group is delighted to be working with a well-established organisation in Portsmouth, Hampshire to recruit a Financial Accountant on a permanent basis. This is a pivotal role within the finance team, offering the opportunity to lead on financial reporting, drive process improvements, and support strategic decision-making across the business.

What will the role of Financial Accountant involve?

Ownership of monthly management accounts, including preparation of accurate trial balances and variance analysis.
Production of detailed budget monitoring reports and support with forecasting.
Oversight of balance sheet reconciliations, including accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets.
Management of VAT compliance and credit control processes.
Coordination of internal and external audits, ensuring robust financial controls.
Supervision of banking activities and intercompany transactions.
Leading system and process improvements to enhance efficiency.
Acting as a key point of contact for senior stakeholders and deputising for the Head of Finance when required.

Suitable candidate for the Financial Accountant role:

Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or finalist with strong technical knowledge.
Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a complex or multi-entity environment.
Advanced Excel and systems skills; experience with ERP systems is advantageous.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across the business.
Highly organised, proactive, and confident in managing deadlines.
