Team Leader, Healthcare

Responsibilities

You will lead a team of up to six care staff, Monday to Sunday according to your rota, in the provision of a needs-led service for adults with dementia. You will work with another Team Leader and have responsibility for the building and the service  will lead a shift to ensure staff are deployed where and when required for best service delivery.

You will contribute to promotion of independence through person‑centred care planning and will provide some direct hands‑on care.

You will be responsible for the development of allocated members of the junior team and liaise with health colleagues and other professionals as required. You will report to the Band 9 any concerns, including accidents or incidents, so investigations can be addressed by the Band 9 as appropriate. Out of hours you will demonstrate responsibility for the safety of the service and the building.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

• NVQ/QCF Level 3 in adult social care or working towards Level 3.
• Night shift experience caring for up to 20 service users.
• Medication trained with the ability to deliver safe medication administration.
• Calm approach to problem solving in any emergency.

We are looking for a Team Leader – Days to join our team at Shearwater, leading a team of care staff. This is a part‑time role.

Shearwater is in the Milton area of Portsmouth and is a purpose‑built 40‑bed dementia residential home, which opened in August 2009. The accommodation is spread over two floors in units of 20 per floor. All bedrooms have a private ensuite with a shower. We currently have around 100 staff working different roles and different shifts throughout the home.
