We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated Nurses to join Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust School Age Immunisation Service. You will participate in the organisation and delivery of the childhood immunisation programme for school aged children across Hampshire, under the supervision of the immunisation lead. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Healthcare is committed to improving the quality of child health services across Hampshire.

Your role will include working in partnership with other services such as the School Nursing Service, Education service (including Elective Home Educated). You will demonstrate clinical expertise and governance in all aspects of the service, including safeguarding children, whilst being supported by robust organisational supervision, guidelines, and policies. You must be either RN qualified and have current NMC registration or have relevant professional registration, e.g. Midwife.

Responsibilities
  • To work as part of a team to deliver the commissioned school aged immunisation programme to children aged 4-18 years living and attending school within Hampshire and Isle of Wight area.
  • Demonstrate partnership working with the 0-19 Public Health Nursing Service, Child Health Information Service, Primary Care, Public Health England and Education, including the Elective Home Educated community to increase the uptake of immunisations.
  • Undertake delivery of immunisation sessions in schools and community clinics and complete the associated data collection.
  • Understand the relevant chapters in the Immunisation Green Book (DOH) and understand storage and carriage instructions for immunisations including maintaining the Cold Chain at all times.
  • Understand the pre-requisites of giving an immunisation, understanding the contra-indications, pre and post care and the relevant advice to give to the child/young person.
  • Understand all aspects of consent and adhere to trust policies and procedures.
  • Participate in audit to ensure services are clinically effective, providing best care and using up to date evidence based practice.
  • To be aware of local and national research and development programmes relevant to immunisation to maintain an effective workforce capable of meeting its objectives.
  • Demonstrate computer literacy in order to enhance robust communication and data analysis. Promote and support an effective team ethos through the use of excellent communication skills.

1 x permanent vacancy in Portsmouth - 30 hours per week, term time only 1 x permanent vacancies in Portsmouth - 22.5 hours per week, all year round. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm. Happy to discuss flexible working around the number of days a week that you work but due to the nature of the role the hours each day will need to be as stated.

£31,049 to £37,796 a year Please note for part time hours the salary will be pro rata.
