Weare currently looking for 2 Healthcare Assistants to join our extensive Nursing Team on a part time basis to work across our Somerstown and Kingston Crescent sites.

Main duties of the jobWorking under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurses and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols.

About usPortsdown Group Practice covers thewhole of Portsmouth from postcodes PO1 to PO7.We operate from 6 surgeries:

), and Somerstown (PO5 4EZ
).
We are our own Primary Care Network(PCN). We have Clinical Partners, Salaried GPs and a comprehensive Nursing and extended clinical team overseen by our Clinical Team Manager. The team consists of Nurse / Paramedic Practitioners, Registered Nurses, HCAs, MSK Physiotherapists, Podiatrist, Social Prescribers and Care Co-ordinators. The Pharmacy team consists of Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.
Multi-disciplinary teams work acrossall sites.
Job responsibilitiesAssist Medical Personnel in the care of Practice Patients to include treatment,preventative care, screening and patient education. The post will also include some administrative duties.
Act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors, nurses and other members of the GP Surgery Team.

Experience- Taking observations
- Wound care
- Previous experience with Systm One
- Experience working in a busy team
- ECGs
- Health checks, giving lifestyle advice
- Experience completing LTC reviews
- Compression
- Suture removal
- Evidence of ongoing personal and practice development
- Knowledge of safeguarding
- Understanding of local and national policies for primary care, including QOF
- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
- Level 3 NVQ, working towards or equivalent in a health care related subject
- Able to work within the UK without sponsorship from Portsdown Group Practice
- Willingness to undertake further training
Good sense of humour
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both face to face and on the telephone
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a wider team
- An understanding and acceptance of ones capabilities and awareness of own limitations
- Ability to liaise with people at all levels
