Working as a partnership, both Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust have a shared vision for excellence in care for our patients and communities; with a set of strategic aims underpinning how we will achieve this.
The single corporate service is delivered across both organisation. You will be based at PHU and individuals may be required to undertake business travel between sites. For leaders managing staff across multi-site locations, you will need to be visible and provide in person leadership. The arrangements and frequency will be agreed locally.

We are seeking an experienced, motivated safeguarding professional to join our senior safeguarding team as the Named Professional for Safeguarding Adults. This is a pivotal Trust-wide leadership role, influencing practice, culture, and outcomes for adults at risk across our organisation and with key partner agencies.
You will provide expert advice, strategic leadership, and professional support to staff at all levels, ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding practice, governance, and learning. Working across complex systems, you will collaborate with multi-agency partners to strengthen coordinated responses and improve outcomes for vulnerable adults.

Job responsibilitiesThis role offers the opportunity to:
- Lead and influence safeguarding practice across the Trust and in partnership with colleagues across the Isle of Wight, ensuring a cohesive, high-quality approach across the Group
- Provide expert advice on complex cases, legal frameworks, and policy, supporting consistent decision-making across both trusts
- Drive the development and implementation of a shared safeguarding strategy, including aligned policies, training, supervision, governance, and quality improvement programmes
- Contribute to serious case reviews, thematic reviews, audits, and organisational learning, ensuring lessons are translated into system-wide improvements
- Champion a culture of reflective practice, professional curiosity, and continuous improvement across services and sites
We are looking for a highly credible practitioner with advanced safeguarding expertise, strong strategic leadership skills, and the ability to influence across organisational boundaries. You will be confident in providing constructive challenge, fostering collaboration, and inspiring others to deliver high-quality safeguarding practice.

Person Specification Qualifications- Educated to degree level
