SLR Recruitment are delighted to be working with a local shipping client who are looking for an Operations Planner to join their team based in Portsmouth.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual to join a busy operations team, playing a key role in the efficient planning of vessel and terminal operations while coordinating the terminal's operational workforce.
Role Details- Salary: £33,000 - £37,000 DOE
- Hours:
40 hours per week - Rotation: 3-week rota – 2 weeks Monday-Friday, followed by 1 week Wednesday-Sunday
- Plan and coordinate vessel and terminal operations efficiently.
- Coordinate and schedule the terminal's operational labour force.
- Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Monitor operational activity and respond quickly to changing priorities.
- Ensure planning is completed accurately while meeting operational deadlines.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across all levels of the business.
- Identify and resolve operational issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Previous experience within shipping, logistics or operations planning.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- An awareness of commercial and financial considerations.
- Experience using Terminal Operating Systems would be advantageous, but is not essential.
- Full time, permanent position.
- 40-hour working week with a structured 3-week rotating shift pattern.
