Job Title: Relief Cleaning Operative (External)

Working Hours: Zero hours

Pay: £13.45 per hour

Location: Port Solent, The Boardwalk, Portsmouth, PO6 4TP

Reporting to: Contract Manager

Overview

We are looking for a reliable and hands-on Relief Cleaning Operative (External) to joinour dedicated team at Port Solent. This is a varied, practical role in a busyoutdoor environment, supporting the smooth running and cleanliness of a popularshopping and leisure destination.

In this role, you will be responsible for a range of manualtasks including moving commercial waste bins, operating specialist equipment(such as a T300 scrubber dryer, kerb sweeper, gum removal machine, wastecompactor and cardboard baler), and ensuring external areas are clean, safe andpresentable. You will need to be comfortable with physical work, working outdoors in all weather, and using machinery safely. Full training will be provided.

This is a dedicated relief position to providesite cover, therefore, the successful candidate must be flexible and available to cover annual leave, sickness absence, and other operational needs as required.

Shifts start from 7:00am, so you must be able to reliablytravel to Port Solent (PO6 4TP
) for this start time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleanand maintain designated outdoor areas in line with the site’s cleaningspecifications.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of public areas, ensuring the siteremains tidy, safe, and welcoming for all visitors.
  • Emptywaste and recycling bins, ensuring materials are sorted and disposed ofappropriately.
  • Respond promptly to spills or hazards to maintain a safe environment for visitors,tenants and staff.
  • Operatea range of site-specific machinery and equipment, including the scrubberdryer, kerb sweeper, gum remover, and compacting/baling units.
  • Carryout basic service road cleaning and maintenance duties as required.
  • Providefriendly, helpful service to customers, tenants and visitors on site.
  • Comply with all Health & Safety and COSHH regulations at all times.
  • Support the wider site team when needed, maintaining a strong team ethic and positive attitude.
Requirements
  • Apractical, dependable individual with a good eye for detail
  • Comfortablecarrying out manual work in an outdoor setting
  • Willingness to learn and operate cleaning and waste-handling machinery (training provided)
  • Good communication skills and a proactive approach to customer service
  • Flexible to provide cover, as and when required
  • Previous experience in cleaning, grounds maintenance, or facilities support is beneficial but not essential
  • You must be able to commute to Port Solent ( PO64TP
    ) for shifts as early as 7:00am
  • Allnecessary training, including use of specialist equipment and Health &Safety procedures
