Trainee Gas Engineer

Portsmouth | Southampton | Cosham | Fareham | Havant

Salary: £28.2k per annum (increase to £31.3k after successful completion of probation). Once qualified your earning potential increases with additional paid standby & overtime.

No prior experience is required. Trainees receive full training, equipment, and support to repair, replace and lay new gas mains and services to keep customers safe and warm.

• Support on‑site engineers during gas service and mains repair activities.
• Participate in excavation, digging on public & private highways, laying and repairing gas pipes, working safely outdoors as part of a team.
• Contribute to essential works keeping gas supply running year round, including standby and overtime opportunities.
• Maintain SGN vans and tools before and after each job, ensuring equipment is safe and efficient.
• Adhere to safety requirements: be clean‑shaven, pass a face‑fit test, wear dust masks and breathing apparatus.
• Hold a full, valid UK driver’s licence.
