Trainee Gas Engineer – Portsmouth | Southampton | Cosham | Fareham | Havant
Salary: £28.2k per annum (increase to £31.3k upon successful completion of probationary period). Once qualified your earning potential increases with additionally paid standby & overtime.

You will receive all training and equipment to support our Engineers in repairing, replacing, and laying new gas mains and services. No prior experience needed.
Responsibilities- Support engineers on site and learn from them daily during gas service and mains repair activities.
- Excavate, dig on public and private highways, and lay and repair gas pipes in various outdoor environments as part of a team.
- Participate in essential work that keeps gas supply running for millions of people year‑round, including standby and overtime opportunities for irregular hours.
- Maintain SGN vans and tools before and after each job, ensuring the team has all equipment for safe and efficient work.

- Clean shaven requirement: You must be clean shaven, pass a face fit test, and be able to wear tight‑fitting dust masks and breathing apparatus for personal protection.
- Valid UK driver’s licence: A full, valid UK driver’s licence is essential for this role.
- Commutable distance: Due to operational response times, you must be based within a commutable distance from the desired locations.
