Role Overview

On behalf of our client, a rapidly growing advanced manufacturing business, we are currently recruiting a Senior Paint Technician to join their experienced production team in Portsmouth. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining production efficiency, reducing paint defects, and ensuring products are finished to the highest possible standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, spray paint, and polish components to meet quality and customer standards.
  • Apply primer, base, and topcoats to achieve high-quality finishes.
  • Operate paint booths and semi-automated paint lines while maintaining production targets.
  • Inspect completed work, identify defects, and support quality improvements.
  • Assist with rework activities to minimise waste and maintain delivery schedules.
  • Train and support painters and trainees by sharing best practices and technical knowledge.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to high housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures at all times.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience as a Paint Technician within Automotive, Aerospace or similar manufacturing sector.
  • Strong knowledge of paint preparation, application, polishing, and finishing processes.
  • Ability to apply primer, base coat, and topcoat finishes to a high cosmetic standard.
  • Experience identifying and rectifying paint defects and carrying out quality inspections.
  • Familiarity with pneumatic and manual hand tools within a production environment.
  • Experience working with polymer, composite, or carbon fibre components would be advantageous.
  • Team-oriented, adaptable, and able to manage workload effectively to meet production targets.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement principles and waste reduction initiatives would be beneficial.
