We are looking for an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join a friendly, quality nurse-led service for patients attending a Walk-in Centre/GP Surgery in Portsmouth. The role requires autonomous practice within your sphere of competency, with support from more experienced staff. You must be able to assess patients, plan their care, administer treatment and discharge them or refer to other healthcare professionals as appropriate, seeking advice and support from a more senior member of staff when needed.

The role involves working effectively as part of a multi-professional team in a fast-paced environment.

As a qualified Advanced Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Practitioner, you'll be an expert in your field, providing holistic care by assessing, diagnosing, treating and discharging patients autonomously on a daily basis.

You'll quickly become a vital member of our Centre and our managers will value your input to continually improve our services.

Your duties will include:

  • Assisting the nurse-in-charge to prioritise patient care and organise the workload.
  • Supporting junior staff with supervision and development.
  • Developing leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of appropriate use of resources.
  • Assisting in the orientation and support of new staff to the unit.

Essential to this role:

  • Communicating and liaising with all health care staff.
  • Maintaining identified lines of communication with patients, colleagues and external agencies to demonstrate politeness, courtesy and sensitivity.
  • Playing an integral role in ensuring that junior team members are aware of local and general Health & Safety matters, Clinical Governance and other ongoing issues, including patient safety issues.
  • Participating in clinical supervision. Supporting and assisting more senior staff in supervising junior staff, in accordance with Company policy.
  • Demonstrating the ability to motivate and persuade others through advanced communication skills.
  • Relevant post-registration experience including acute, primary care, or related areas.
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • 1st level Registered Nurse with current registration with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or registered with the candidate's professional body.
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
  • Post-registration qualification.
  • Evidence of ability to work unsupervised.
  • Effective communication skills.
