Community Nursery Nurse

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic Nursery Nurse with a current N.N.E.B./BTEC Diploma in Child Care or NVQ in Child Care level 3 or equivalent. The role is part of our well‑established Community Health Nurse (CHN) and School Health Nursing Teams. As a Community Nursery Nurse you will receive induction and comprehensive training to safely deliver aspects of the Universal offer of the Healthy Child Programme (2009).

Your work will involve assessing children’s health and development in the home, clinic or school/nursery settings and supporting parents who require additional support.

Main duties
  • Participate in the delivery of core contacts of the Healthy Child Programme to children on the Universal and Targeted caseloads, both home and community settings.
  • Implement short‑ and medium‑term interventions with Targeted families needing help with healthy weight, child development and/or parenting interventions, via home visits or groups.
  • Work under supervision to demonstrate clinical decision‑making and develop care plans under the Universal and Targeted levels of the programme.
  • Communicate complex or contentious information sensitively, building effective relationships with other agencies, families and colleagues.
  • Follow local and national safeguarding policies, analyze information to identify families that may require escalation to Health Visitors.
  • Participate in national and local public health targets, promote vaccination programmes and other public health activities as required.
  • Engage in service development, infection control procedures and reflection‑based supervision.
  • Work flexibly across the Trust to manage service demands and comply with the NMC Professional Code of Conduct.
  • Maintain accurate records in Systm One and the parent‑held record book, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Mentor and supervise new staff, contribute to teaching and professional meetings, and attend relevant training.
  • Actively participate in service improvement activities, audit and data collection to enhance patient care.
  • Maintain professional registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council, keeping up with revalidation and DBS Update Service.
  • Apply good practice and uphold the Trust’s values of respect, diversity and equality, promoting a safe and inclusive environment.
Qualifications
  • BSc Nursing or RN currently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
