The successful candidate will play a key role across a busy machine shop, inspecting seals, bearings and machined components throughout the production process to ensure products meet drawing, specification and customer requirements.
Key responsibilities:
* Carry out in-process and final inspection of machined components
* Inspect components using calipers, micrometers, thread gauges and other dimensional inspection tools
* Read and interpret engineering drawings, concessions, specifications and purchase orders
* Raise non-conformances and support root cause investigations
* Complete visual, dimensional and mechanical inspections
* Work closely with QA, manufacturing, engineering and operations teams
* Support traceability records, quality packs and class visit requirements
* Release inspected parts to stores, assembly and packaging
* Support OTIF targets by ensuring proactive communication across operations teams
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping and health & safety
* Contribute towards continuous improvement activities
* Use SAP and MRP systems to complete transactions and maintain quality records
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
* Previous experience in a quality inspection role within a manufacturing, engineering or machine shop environment.
* Strong experience inspecting machined components
* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
* Experience using manual inspection equipment such as micrometers, verniers and thread gauges
* Experience raising non-conformances and supporting quality investigations
* Understanding of quality systems, traceability and inspection processes
* Previous exposure to SAP or MRP systems
* A background within marine, defence, aerospace, precision engineering or general manufacturing would be highly advantageous
* A flexible and proactive approach with the ability to work across multiple teams
* Previous CMM inspection or programming experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
* Eligibility to gain SC clearance (5 years' UK residency with no visa or sponsorship requirement)
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quality Inspector looking to join a business with strong long-term prospects, varied work and a supportive team environment.
