Job Summary
The Portsmouth Marriott Hotel is looking for a Junior Sous Chef to join the kitchen team! We are looking for a passionate Junior Sous Chef wanting to deliver a first-class experience at the world leading hospitality company Portsmouth Marriott Hotel. Located near famous landmarks such as the Spinnaker Tower has a range of amenities including:

- Supervises and coordinates activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparation for property banquets and events and restaurant for all meal times including breakfast, lunch and dinner.
- Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity; leads by example.
- Leads shifts while personally preparing food items and executing requests based on required specifications.
- Ensuring Culinary Standards and Responsibilities are Met.
- Serves as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviours.
- Collaborate successfully with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef
- Checks the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
- Assists in determining how food should be presented and creates decorative food displays. Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service
- Provides services that are above and beyond for customer satisfaction and retention.
- Manages day-to-day operations, ensuring the quality, standards and meeting the expectations of the customers daily
- Improves service by communicating and assisting individuals to understand guest needs, providing guidance, feedback, and individual coaching when needed.
- Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service.
- Enjoys the fast-paced kitchen environment
- Is a team player
- Can communicate clearly (verbal, listening, writing)
- Is proactive, reliable and can support shifts including weekends and bank holidays
- Has NVQ Level 1 and/or 2 (desirable)
