You will be working in a unique ex-offender community hub based in Portsmouth, which is simply brilliant. It’s a safe space for ex-offenders to meet, see a friendly face, and receive the support they need. They have access to:
- An onsite gym
- Music studios
- Wellness rooms
- Arts and crafts areas
- Weekly doughnut and debate clubs (where support workers discuss the week’s news topics over doughnuts)
- Cooked breakfasts throughout the week (with the clients getting involved)
With all of this in place, the hub provides a fantastic setting for you to support your clients. In addition to participating in the above activities, you will manage a caseload of clients through one-to-one sessions, helping them access housing and benefits, register with a GP and dentist, find training courses, provide light-touch employment support, and develop general life skills such as budgeting, cooking, and wellness.
You may have worked within criminal justice before, perhaps as a prison officer, resettlement officer, or probation officer. Alternatively, you may have experience supporting people on a one-to-one basis in roles such as a project worker, support worker, hostel worker, employment advisor, careers advisor, job coach, or recruitment consultant.
