Position: Income Recovery Officer

Job Overview

We are recruiting for an Income Recovery Officer to join our team in Portsmouth
. This full‑time permanent position requires 37 hours per week, with a minimum of 20% office‑based. The role involves managing a caseload of rent arrears accounts and supporting customers to sustain their tenancies, with eviction as last resort.

Responsibilities
  • Managing a caseload of rent arrears accounts in line with agreed procedures.
  • Engaging with customers to record contacts, agreements, and referrals.
  • Providing tailored support and advice to help customers sustain tenancies.
  • Developing a strong understanding of benefits and payment processes.
  • Working collaboratively with internal teams (neighbourhoods, tenancy support) and external agencies (housing options, DWP, homelessness services).
  • Ensuring business and customer impacts are considered in all recovery actions.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience in debt recovery and a customer‑centric environment.
  • Demonstrable awareness and knowledge of the social housing sector.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
