  • CSW’s need to be eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
  • CSW’s must be over 18 years of age.
  • CSW’s will undertake an enhanced DBS check.
  • Safeguarding training is required, and we’ll provide support for this.
  • CSW’s will be familiar with the policies and procedures related to youth groups.
  • CSW’s should only agree to cover sessions that they are feasibly able to attend.
  • We’re looking for someone who’s happy to work as part of a team and collaborate with other volunteers and staff.
  • You’ll need to respect everyone’s privacy and keep group matters confidential.
  • We value understanding and respect for diversity and inclusion, especially in relation to neurodiversity.
The Casual Support Worker Role
  • The support workers role is to supervise and support the children and young people during activities.
  • Staff are also responsible for assisting with social interactions between members where needed. This might include explaining the rules of games or helping someone understand the feelings of another member.
  • Staff should encourage independence and peer on peer support where possible.
  • It is perfectly acceptable to observe activities without joining in or talking to the members if this helps encourage the above.
  • Staff should make an effort to help members understand what happened if ... rather than reprimand them. .
  • Being able to manage challenging behaviour calmly and appropriately is essential. This might mean removing other children out of the way of an upset member, seeking assistance from other staff and calming supporting an upset person.
  • We do not use physical intervention in youth group and if a staff member feels unsafe they are encouraged to move somewhere where they feel more secure.
