Software Applications Engineer | C++ | Robotics & Control Systems
Interested in developing software that doesn't just run on a screen, but actually controls and interacts with complex robotic systems?
We're working with an established international engineering organisation that is expanding its software team responsible for a range of advanced underwater robotic platforms.
This is a hands-on C++ applications development role, developing the software used to control, operate and monitor sophisticated robotic systems. You'll work across application software and system integration, collaborating with engineers across software, electronics and systems to turn complex engineering requirements into reliable, real-world products.
The Opportunity- Permanent position | Up to £65,000, depending on experience
- Hybrid working - typically 4 days onsite / 1 day remote
- Develop modern C++ application software for advanced underwater robotic systems
- Work across software, hardware and system integration
- See your software deployed onto real-world engineering platforms
- Developing and maintaining software for complex robotic platforms
- Designing and developing application-level software in modern C++
- Building software used to control, configure and monitor physical systems
- Integrating software with hardware, sensors and other system components
- Developing interfaces between different parts of the wider robotic system
- Working with networked and real-time data
- Debugging and resolving problems across application software, interfaces and the wider robotic system
- Supporting integration, testing and deployment onto real engineering platforms
- Experience developing application-level software for physical products, equipment or complex engineered systems
- Good understanding of object-oriented software design and modern development practices
- Experience working with Linux and/or Windows
- Comfortable debugging complex software and integration problems
- Experience with networking, communications or distributed software would be useful
- An engineering, computer science or related technical degree, or equivalent industry experience
We're open to engineers from a range of technically complex environments, including robotics, marine technology, aerospace, automotive, defence, industrial automation, instrumentation or other hardware-focused engineering sectors.
If you're a C++ engineer who enjoys developing application software that interacts with real-world systems and wants to see your software operating on advanced robotic platforms, we'd be keen to hear from you.
