The interesting part of AI starts when it has to work inside a real business.
Different systems. Incomplete data. Processes that depend on spreadsheets, inboxes and the knowledge of people who have been doing the job for years.
I’m partnering with a well-funded AI company building agents to take on that complexity, and looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer who wants to own the journey from understanding the problem to making the solution work in production.
The workYou’ll work directly with enterprise customers to understand how their operations run, where work gets stuck and where AI can make a measurable difference.
Then you’ll build.
That could mean connecting an agent to an enterprise system, writing an integration, testing a workflow with users or investigating why something that worked in a prototype is failing in production.
You’ll take responsibility for the deployment, stay close to the customer and keep improving it as adoption grows.
Along the way, you’ll help shape the product. What you learn on one deployment should make the next one better: stronger integrations, reusable workflows and capabilities the wider engineering team can build on.
Who would enjoy this?An engineer who wants to understand why something needs building, speak to the people who will use it and stay involved long enough to see the result.
You should be comfortable moving between hands‑on development and customer conversation, whether that’s debugging Python or helping a senior stakeholder decide which problem to tackle first.
We’re looking for around five years or more delivering technology
, with clear evidence that you can:
- Build and ship software into real customer environments.
- Work confidently with Python, APIs, integrations and data
. - Apply LLMs and agentic workflows to practical business problems.
- Make sensible technical decisions when requirements are incomplete.
- Earn customer trust and take ownership when deployments get difficult.
Your title might be Forward Deployed Engineer, Applied AI Engineer, Solutions Engineer or something else entirely. The strongest evidence will be what you’ve delivered and the responsibility you took for making it successful.
Experience in an AI-native startup or scale‑up would be particularly relevant. Exposure to retail, e-commerce, consumer goods, supply chain, procurement or merchandising would also be valuable.
The company has institutional backing and enterprise customers already using its technology in production. You’ll join early enough to influence how deployments are delivered and how the product develops.
You’ll work closely with the founders and engineering team, with direct access to the customer problems shaping their priorities.
For someone who enjoys engineering, commercial problem-solving and seeing their work used, there’s a lot to get stuck into.
