Position: Personal Trainer and Small Group Coach

Personal Trainer – Performance Development Role

Unit 15, Portsmouth

Unit 15, part of the Gym 01 group, is expanding its structured strength and conditioning provision as part of a wider performance-led growth strategy.

As the only independent 24-hour gym in the city, Unit 15 operates at the intersection of strength training, performance development and high-standard facility management. We are now seeking a coach to play a key role in delivering and shaping our small group strength and conditioning model during its next phase of development.

This position is designed as more than a session-delivery role. It offers a clear pathway toward increased responsibility and potential progression into a senior or Head PT position for the right individual.

The Role

You will be responsible for delivering a structured, progression-based small group strength and conditioning programme, built around measurable outcomes and high coaching standards.

Sessions will be capped to ensure quality, individual attention and technical precision within a group setting.

Alongside delivery, you will contribute to maintaining programming standards, performance culture and coaching quality within the facility.

There is scope for timetable expansion, programme growth and the development of your own personal training client base within the gym.

Pay

£15 per hour

Paid monthly

As the programme expands, earning potential and responsibility will increase accordingly.

What We Are Looking For

This role requires a coaching mindset rather than a class-instruction approach.

We are seeking a coach who:

  • Understands structured strength programming and progression models
  • Is confident coaching compound barbell movements
  • Can manage small groups while maintaining technical standards
  • Demonstrates professionalism and strong communication skills
  • Is reliable, punctual and long-term focused
  • Has the ambition to contribute to facility standards and operational development
Responsibilities
  • Deliver technically sound, progression-based strength and conditioning sessions
  • Contribute to programme design and performance structure
  • Track member progression and outcomes
  • Support the development of a high-performance training culture
  • Contribute to the overall growth and standards of Unit 15

This is an opportunity to build influence within a growing independent performance facility and develop into a leadership role as the programme scales.

Ideal Candidate
  • Confident coaching barbell lifts and foundational movement patterns
  • Strong communicator with professional presence
  • Ambitious and growth-oriented

Applications without confirmation of availability will not be considered.
