Transport Manager Portsmouth 37.5 hours, working Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, with flexibility required Around £40,000 per annum, experience dependant, with bonus and regional supplement additions

We’re looking for a proactive Transport Manager to lead a safe, compliant, and high-performing transport operation. You’ll manage drivers, fleet, and resources to deliver excellent customer service while meeting KPIs, controlling costs, and operating fully within regulatory and GDP requirements.

The heart of the role
  • Lead, motivate, and manage delivery drivers to achieve service and performance targets.
  • Ensure efficient route planning, on-time departures, and fleet optimisation.
  • Maintain full compliance with Health & Safety, GDP, and transport regulations.
  • Oversee fleet maintenance, vehicle checks, and asset tracking.
  • Act as a key member of the depot leadership team, supporting overall depot KPIs.
What makes you tick
  • Proven experience managing delivery drivers and a commercial vehicle fleet.
  • Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety, transport compliance, and GDP standards.
  • Confident people manager with experience in absence, discipline, and performance management.
  • Highly organised with strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Results-focused, dependable, and calm under pressure, with a hands‑on leadership style.
