Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Platform Engineer
Join us at MANTECH, a motivated, career customer‑oriented platform engineer. This onsite position is based in Portsmouth, VA. MANTECH seeks a professional to join our Surface Maintenance Engineering, Planning, Program (SURFMEPP) group that maintains and refines Class‑wide – Individual‑Ship Maintenance Plans for all non‑nuclear surface ships. The role will support the Class Maintenance Plan and maintain the Shipwork Planning database for surface ships.
Responsibilities- Coordinate with Port Engineers, Technical Warrant Holders, In‑Service Engineering Agents, Ship Design Managers and Regional Maintenance Centers on maintenance and modernization matters.
- Validate and update CMP content through engineering and data analysis, including man‑day and material cost estimates.
- Coordinate CMP processing activities, develop, maintain and monitor Baseline Availability Work Packages (BAWPs) – Availability Work Packages (AWPs).
- Develop, collate and brief maintenance and modernization documents and strategies for all maintenance team levels.
- Develop and deliver engineered ship‑specific Ship sheets for Planning, Programming, Budget and Execution (PPBE) and conduct detailed reviews of ship CSMP entries.
- Assist in creating Technical Foundation Papers for the assigned ship class detailing lifecycle maintenance requirements.
- Support answering Congressional, OSD, Force Management and Budget (FMB) inquiries with records, data calls and reports.
Develop metrics for processes and products, ensuring alignment with Future Readiness Team / SWE requirements and recommend improvements. - Maintain accuracy, integrity and accessibility of the Class Maintenance Plan and the Maintenance and Shipwork Planning database.
- 10+ years of Naval Ships Experience.
- Demonstrated maintenance and engineering planning experience with LCS Class ships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.).
- 15+ years of Naval Ships Experience.
- Experience as a Naval Officer or Senior Enlisted (Chief, Senior Chief, or Master Chief) or prior experience as Port Engineer or Project Manager for the ship class.
- Qualification as Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) if prior active duty Navy.
- Experience in Navy maintenance through shipyard operations, such as serving onboard a ship or participating in Depot Level maintenance or Optimized Fleet Response Plan cycles.
- Experience with U.S. Navy surface ship depot level maintenance planning processes and associated organizations.
- Working knowledge of Navy correspondence.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess a current/active Secret Security Clearance.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Occasionally move around the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or communicate with colleagues, management, and customers via email, phone, or virtual meetings.
