Epsilon Systems has a full‑time Planner I position located in Portsmouth, VA.
SummaryDevelops detailed schedules, material requirements lists and production plans for proposals utilizing issued drawings and work specifications. Coordinates with Production, Quality Assurance, and other applicable departments to achieve optimum utilization of resources in meeting schedules. Provides input to management regarding problems such as shortages, design changes, backlogs and the like. Maintains all appropriate paperwork.
Duties and Responsibilities- Reviews engineering plans, blueprints and product specifications to determine material requirements in support of repair projects.
- Identifies, quantifies and monetizes material for the Estimating Team on outgoing bids, active RCCs and CFRs. Responsible for Purchase Request generation, accuracy and pricing of materials priced for each bid/RCC/CFR.
- May be tasked with creating, updating and/or maintaining a Bill of Material (BOM) or Job Material List (JML).
- May be required to provide a fast turnaround on critical material pricing for bids, RCCs and CFRs.
- Considers all specified references including applicable NAVSEA Standard Items in the formulation of schedules.
- Develops and assists with active maintenance of a detailed Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) meeting current NAVSEA Standard Item 009-60 or 009-111 requirements.
- Performs a wide variety of complex planning activities required to attain awarded projects and to meet production objectives.
- Works with Trade Foreman and other personnel to formulate estimates/schedules.
- Schedules the labor requirements by trade based on engineering plans and product specifications to determine resource requirements in support of repair projects.
- Factors in QA and Project Management requirements in the schedules.
- Provides schedules in the format required by the Estimating manager.
- Receives and controls government drawings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; four (4) years’ experience in Property Control.
- Two (2) years’ job experience.
- Must be familiar with NAVSEA Standard Items.
- Must be proficient with all aspects of Microsoft Project.
- Must have working knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models to extract material requirements.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearance.
- Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must have an average typing speed of 50-60 WPM.
- Familiarity with U.S. Navy ships/terminology.
- Frequent sitting, standing, handling, feeling with hands, reaching with arms.
- Regular communication (hearing/speaking).
