Collins Machine Works currently seeking a dedicated and precise Federal Contractor Maritime Manufacturing Estimator to join our dynamic team. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for analyzing project specifications and requirements to prepare detailed cost estimates that drive the success of our federal maritime manufacturing operations. Sign On Bonus:
Collins Machine Works offers a sign on bonus in the amount of $2,000 to be paid after six months of satisfactory employment performance. Collins Machine Works also offers employee referral bonuses in the amount of $1,000 per referral to be paid after the referred employee completed six months of satisfactory employment performance.

Job Responsibilities
  • Analyze and evaluate requests for quotes (RFQs), drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements for maritime manufacturing projects
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and procurement teams to ensure accurate, competitive, and comprehensive cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and fabrication for maritime vessels and components
  • Assess potential risks and incorporate risk mitigation strategies into cost estimates
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and regulatory changes that may impact cost estimates
  • Present detailed bid packages to senior management
  • Attend post-award project reviews to refine estimating practices and processes based on actual project outcomes
  • Communicate with customers throughout the bidding process, if required, to clarify project specifications and requirements

Job Requirements
  • 5-10 Years of experience in Heavy Industrial Maritime Manufacturing or shipbuilding on the machining side required
  • Familiarity with various types of maritime construction projects, including commercial and military vessels
  • Strong understanding of federal contracting processes, regulations, and reporting requirements (e.g., FAR, DFARS)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
  • Ability to estimate the amount of material, labor, and equipment required to perform requirements of RFQs
  • Knowledge of market labor and material trends relevant to the maritime industry
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including engineering, project management, finance, procurement, and human resources
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and the ability to incorporate risk considerations into cost estimates
  • Capacity to estimate multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Candidate must be able to pass a background check to gain access to sites that perform work on US DOD Contracts (on-site)
  • Candidate should have a good driving record
Physical Demands
  • Ability to move or transfer products with an overhead crane
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee will regularly stand, walk, reach overhead with hands and arms, stoop, crouch, kneel, climb ladders, and use stairs
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • The employee will have prolonged periods sitting at a desk working on a computer
