Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position located in Portsmouth, VA. As a Substance Abuse Clinician, you will provide individual and group counseling to clients dealing with substance abuse and related mental health concerns. Your responsibilities will include conducting assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, facilitating therapeutic sessions, documenting client progress, and collaborating with other professionals to ensure comprehensive care. You will also provide education and support to clients' families and engage in outreach efforts as needed.

Qualifications
  • Proficiency in counseling, therapeutic techniques, and developing individualized treatment plans
  • Strong assessment and case management skills
  • Experience with crisis intervention and group facilitation
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse populations
  • Knowledge of substance abuse, mental health disorders, and related treatment approaches
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field
  • Licensure or certification in substance abuse or mental health counseling is preferred
  • Ability to maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Commitment to person-centered, ethical, and evidence-based practices
