Pharmacy Technician Supervisor – Maryview Medical Center
Summary of Primary FunctionUnder general supervision, assist the pharmacy department leadership for inpatient (acute care; hospital) and/or outpatient (ambulatory; retail; home infusion) services. This role has increased responsibilities within the pharmacy department, managing pharmacy technicians, overseeing their training and scheduling, acting as a resource for all pharmacy staff, and performing management privileges for business purchasing approval alongside oversight and evaluations of other pharmacy technicians.
Responsibilities- Assist the pharmacy department leadership by overseeing scheduling and evaluating pharmacy technicians.
- Assist in the education, precepting, and compliance record keeping of all pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students, and pharmacy interns, as directed by pharmacy management.
- Participate in or lead performance improvement activities for the department.
- Conduct disciplinary action and performance appraisals of direct reports.
- Assist inpatient and/or outpatient service area staff with medication/pharmacy related issues via telephone or in person.
- Assist in the education and precepting of new pharmacy technicians and pharmacy students.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and comply with State Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations.
- Assist the pharmacist in preparing medications for patients within an inpatient and/or outpatient service area, performing diagnostic laboratory testing as defined in state laws/guidelines.
- High school diploma (required).
- ExCPT certification provided by the National Health career Association, or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification and registration with State Board of Pharmacy (required).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in retail, ambulatory, outpatient, hospital, acute care, or home infusion pharmacy (required).
