Paint Pump Operator

Job Title: Paint Pump Operator (C‑14)
Reports To: Paint Foreman
Operates marine coatings application equipment, including plural and single component airless paint pumps. Maintains strict adherence to paint mixing using approved methods only. Participates in the application of coatings using brushes and rollers. Maintains paint pumps according to manufacturer instructions, standard operating procedures, and directions from Foreman and Superintendents. Performs routine cleaning of work areas, equipment, and paint storage locations. Must follow directions concerning painting in the marine industry.
Additional duties may be assigned by supervisor.
Essential Job Requirements
- Monitor environmental parameters related to paint storage, paint application, and dry times.
- Assist in creating containment methods to maintain environmental controls.
- Prepare surfaces for coating according to paint manufacturers’ specifications.
- Follow only approved methods and participate in striping tank surfaces as required.
- Adhere to OSHA requirements and company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental rules.
- Accurately operate, clean, and maintain assigned equipment; properly store equipment and dispose of empty paint and solvent cans.
- Check wet film thickness (WFT) and assist sprayers in pulling lines.
C‑14 Pump Operator preferred.
Required Skills- Ability to take direction required.
- Cooperative and productive with other employees and shipyard personnel.
Regularly required to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, or crawl in confined spaces; sit occasionally; reach and grip with hands and arms; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision required for close, distance, and peripheral tasks. May need to wear a respirator for assigned tasks. Must follow clean shaven policy.

Working ConditionsRegular exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, confined spaces, precarious places, proximity to other employees. PPE required. Overtime or shift work involved most of the time.
