Position: Registered Nurse (PRN)
Registered Nurse (PRN) | Safe Harbor Recovery Center | Portsmouth, Virginia
About the Job:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care to patients, supervising care, treatment, and services provided by LPNs, CNAs, and other staff on the assigned unit and shift. The nurse will develop, implement, and evaluate individual care plans for each client, conduct assessments and re-assessments, and communicate pertinent information with the interdisciplinary team. Reporting client concerns and changes in condition to supervisors and/or physicians in a timely manner is essential.
Roles and Responsibilities:Provide and coordinate care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs, developing and implementing nursing care plans, maintaining medical records, and educating clients and families about health conditions while ensuring safety.Assess client status continuously and document relevant information.Ensure nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs, with initial plans completed upon admission.Accurately take and document physician’s orders, transcribe, and review them for clarity and compliance.Administer medications accurately, monitor lab results, and adjust medications under supervision as needed.Notify physicians of significant changes in patient status, such as difficulties with detox or medical emergencies.Supervise self-administration of medications, ensuring safety protocols are followed.Maintain accountability and security of medications, including narcotics.Complete admission and discharge processes efficiently and accurately.Collaborate regularly with the treatment team and participate in unit activities.Provide education to clients, families, and staff regarding medications, side effects, and patient rights.Monitor client acuity, census, and staffing needs, making coverage arrangements as necessary.Ensure thorough documentation and proper completion of client assignment sheets.Provide detailed reports to incoming staff, supervisors, and physicians.Offer coverage in emergency situations as needed.Education, Experience, and
Skills:- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- One or more years of nursing experience, preferably in a clinical setting related to the facility’s services.
- Experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, or addiction recovery settings is preferred.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:
- Valid RN license from the state or a compact state.
- Psychiatric Nursing certification is preferred.
- Active driver’s license required.
